Supercars has left the door open to changing how it refunds fans for the cancelled Newcastle KISS concert.

Some fans have complained that Supercars is refunding only the optional concert component of their race ticket after the band pulled out of their Australian tour 10 days ago.

Chief executive Sean Seamer told the Newcastle Herald that Supercars would seek guidance from Ticketek and Fair Trading, but it was too early to speculate on what the outcome would be.

"Our immediate focus is refunding all of the people who bought the concert upgrades as quickly as possible, and we're working with Ticketek and Fair Trading on next steps as it relates to the other complaints that have been received," he said.

"We're going to regroup with Ticketek early [this] week once we've got through the event.

"We're reviewing all of the terms and conditions, reviewing all of the different purchase methods that were made, and we'll do a debrief with Ticketek."
