
Seven-time Supercars champion Jamie Whincup added another pole position to his decorated career CV after posting the quickest time in Sunday's top-10 shootout at the Newcastle 500.
Whincup stopped the clock at one minute, 10.5551 seconds to finish ahead of quickest qualifier Cameron Waters (1:10.7737).
"It feels bloody good to get pole [position] around here [Newcastle]," Whincup told Fox Sports media.

Shell V-Power, who lead the team championship by 143 points over Red Bull Holden ahead of the season-ending race, have Fabian Coulthard (1:10.8432) and back-to-back title holder Scott McLaughlin (1:10.8452) in third and fourth places respectively.
Scott Pye (1:10.9907), Anton de Pasquale (1:11.0278), David Reynolds (1:11.0352), Tim Slade (1:11.2091), Lee Holdsworth (1:11.4599) and James Courtney (1:11.6552) round out the top 10.
Whincup's teammate and Saturday's race winner Shane Van Gisbergen missed the top-10 shootout.
