Supercar driver's explanation after McLaren crashes into bus in Nottingham city centre

A Nottingham supercar owner who was driving his McLaren through the city centre has explained why it crashed into a bus.

Chris Robinson, 49, was driving up Maid Marian Way at about 7.15am on Wednesday morning (March 4) when the electrics on his McLaren 570S cut off - leading to him rolling back down the hill.

Mr Robinson, who is managing director of the marketing firm Adtrak , then crashed into a bus - causing traffic delays during rush hour in the city.

He said the, which has a market value starting at £150,000, has not been badly damaged, and he was waiting for a specialist firm to collect the supercar.

"The car's electrics just stopped completely, and it cuts out the whole car so you can't even get the doors open", he said.

"It ended up rolling backwards into a bus. It's not badly damaged and will be all okay, it'll probably take about half an hour to an hour to be collect it."

Nottinghamshire Police attended the crash and helped ease traffic congestion, with the collision taking place in the middle of three lanes going up towards Derby Road.

A spokesman for the force said: "The force was called at around 7.15am on March 4 following a collision between a bus and a car on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham.

"There were no injuries to anyone involved and no damage to the vehicles."
