Superb Swansea City player ratings as star does unseen dirty work and attacker has fans cheering

BEN HAMER 8

Alert to twice prevent former Swan Viktor Gyokeres from scoring early on, although he wasn't helped by his defence as Kyle McFadzean headed home for the Sky Blues. Yet another top display from a man who has swiftly become something of an unsung hero. (What a save to deny Dabo in injury time, too!)

RYAN BENNETT 8

Started well and was generally good in possession, although he found the going tougher as the first half wore on. Booked for a foul on the impressive Callum O'Hare, but threw his body on the line time and time again in the second half.

KYLE NAUGHTON 8 STAR MAN

The experienced defender was remarkably composed defensively and on the ball. Stacks of defensive interventions to help his side claim victory.

RYAN MANNING 8

Got forward well and played a key role in Swansea's opener.

ETHAN LAIRD 8

Got into so many dangerous areas and could well have won a penalty before Joel Piroe struck after 12 minutes. His energy levels were incredible. So unfortunate not to get more rewards for his efforts in the final third.

KOREY SMITH 8

Continued his fine form in a deeper role and looked impressive when helping to get his team forward too. Superb shift.

MATT GRIMES 8

What a display from the captain who did plenty of unseen dirty work while helping to tick things over in attack too. Range of passing was vital.

JAKE BIDWELL 8

Caused plenty of problems on the left flank and put in the cross that led to Jamie Paterson's goal. Very accurate in possession, unlucky not to score again but can once again be pleased with his efforts.

OLIVIER NTCHAM 7

The Frenchman linked up nicely with Laird on Swansea's right. He is slowly starting to add the consistency needed. Quieter in the second half before being subbed.

JAMIE PATERSON 8

Yet another cool finish to put Swansea ahead after just five minutes and was heavily involved in the final third. Full of confidence in the second half and had the fans cheering on numerous occasions.

JOEL PIROE 8

The Dutchman's work rate and link-up play was admirable, and he earned a bit of fortune as his deflected effort went beyond Simon Moore after 12 minutes. Worked so hard for the cause.

Subs

Michael Obafemi (for Ntcham) - Ran himself ragged to help stem the tide. 6

Flynn Downes (for Piroe) - Helped Swansea to regain control in midfield which in turn ensured they saw out the win. Booked. 6
