'Superb' Arsenal player scores hat-trick after completing deadline day transfer

Arsenal forward Kido Taylor-Hart got off the mark for new club Derby County on Wednesday night.

Taylor-Hart bagged a hat-trick in a thrilling win at National League North side Alfreton Town as the Rams fought back from 5-2 down with three minutes to go to take the Derbyshire Senior Cup tie to penalties. The 20 year-old scored the game's opener, netting from 25 yards, but Alfreton rallied and recovered from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 and goals from Ahmed Salam and Tom Denton looked to have put the game beyond all doubt.

However, Taylor-Hart was at the centre of the Rams' revival and Alfreton goalkeeper Jake Askew denied him with a fine save. Taylor-Hart, though, was not to be denied again and scored a brilliant third for the Rams before slamming home his hat-trick goal beyond Askew and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

The Rams sealed their spot in the semi-final when they stayed perfect in the penalty shoot-out with Taylor-Hart on target for Pat Lyons' side.

Taylor-Hart signed for the Rams on loan until the end of the season on transfer deadline day in January, linking up with the club's youth teams after they were left depleted because of administration with Arsenal team-mate Billy Vigar joining him.

Under contract until the end of the 2023-24 season, Taylor-Hart made five appearances for Arsenal's youth teams this season before joining Derby. He has extensive experience with Arsenal's youth teams but, at 20, is yet to make an appearance for Mikel Arteta's youth team.

Having turned professional in July 2021 after four years with the club, the Londoner is looking to get back on form after struggling with injury last season. The boyhood Arsenal fan netted both goals in a 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the 2021/22 campaign before picking up a groin injury.
