Super sub Kristian Dennis snatches point for Notts County in 2-2 draw at Dover

A late goal from substitute Kristian Dennis secured a hard-fought point for Notts County as they snatched a 2-2 draw at Dover Athletic.

The hosts had taken the lead late in the first half when Bobby-Joe Taylor crashed in a superb free-kick after Enzio Boldewijn had committed a foul on the edge of the box.

But Dover’s lead did not last long as the Magpies were level before the break when Richard Brindley was fouled by Taylor after a strong run into the box.

Mitch Rose took responsibility for the spot-kick and crashed it past Dan Worgan to leave the game all square the break.

Notts came out strongly at the start of the second half and Sam Osborne drew a fine save from Worgan as the Magpies pressed for a second goal.

But it was Dover, without a home win in five, who  forced themselves ahead when Kevin Lokko took advantage of a poorly defended free-kick.

Notts should have been level however midway through the second half when Kyle Wootton’s shot was pushed into the path of Wes Thomas.

But from six yards out he shot straight at the goalkeeper’s face as Dover desperately clung onto their lead.

Boldewijn saw a shot blocked before Dennis popped up to head in the equaliser from Rose’s cross.
