Super six entrepreneurs celebrated as EY picks regional winners

Six individuals from four Yorkshire and Humber businesses have been crowned regional champions in the 2021 EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition.

They were selected from a shortlist of almost 40 entries, and will now be included in a national final in November.

Lee Sutton and Jordan Brompton of Grimsby’s Myenergi and Luke and James Smith of Elland A-Safe HQ are recognised, with Karen Betts, chief executive of Pontefract’s Nouveau HD Beauty Group and Gary Gallen, chief executive of Hull law firm Rradar joining them.

The Myenergi duo take the Rising Star award, with their five-year-old green energy microgeneration firm enjoying tremendous growth, accelerating from two to 200 employees.

Sustained Excellence landed in Elland for A-Safe HQ, specialists in plastic industrial safety infrastructure.

The Transformational Leader category prize went to the Nouveau HD head, where it develops and delivers professional beauty training, treatments and products including permanent makeup, medical tattooing and skin therapies.

Rradar’s founder took the Disrupter category by storm for a near-decade provision of digital tools and advice to navigate the complex legal system.

Ben Wildsmith, EY strategy and transactions partner, said: “This year’s Yorkshire winners of EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year programme showcase some of the most ambitious, innovative and tenacious entrepreneurs across the region. Representing a range of sectors and industries, these businesses highlight Yorkshire’s strong entrepreneurial environment and thriving commercial spirit.

“Having navigated their businesses through the last eighteen months, each of our regional winners have shown sheer determination and resilience. I wish them all the best of luck in the UK finals.”
