Super obedient old English sheepdog waits patiently for treat in adorable video

Many dog owners will know the struggle of trying to train pups the “leave it” command - particularly when it involves food.

It can take a lot of time and patience to teach a dog not to snap up an appetising morsel as soon as it hits the floor.

But that wasn’t the case for ultra-obedient old English sheepdog Leila, who puts her training to the ultimate test by waiting patiently for a tasty treat that’s right in front of her nose.

In the heart-melting clip posted by @leilaoes on TikTok, the dog’s owner places a small treat on the floor in front of the pup, instructs her to “leave it” and then exits the room and closes the door.

After watching her owner leave the dog stares down longingly at the treat, but the well-trained pup doesn’t move a muscle.

Although at one point Leila glances back at the door and gives the treat a sideways glance, as if debating whether to chance it.

Eventually, though, her owner comes back in and gives the command that she can snaffle the treat up, which she wastes no time in doing.

Commenters praised the dog’s self-restraint skills, with one user saying: “So well behaved! My dog would have eaten it, locked the door and turn on the TV”.

Others pointed out how important the training was.

“People making mean comments don’t realize how important that command is, let’s say if you dropped a bottle of medicine on [the] floor or something harmful,” one person commented.

Leila isn’t the only one who’s shown off impressive training prowess lately.

An amazing dog proved that she had top-notch nanny skills to help her owners with their new baby.

In the TikTok video by @wrigleyandlulu , the dog can be seen dutifully carrying nappies in her mouth to her owner when it’s changing time.

Another clever dog even learned to fetch his owner a cocktail.

The smart Labrador ran off to the kitchen and came back with a gin and tonic can in his mouth when hearing his owner announce it was “gin o’clock.”
