Super League side Hull FC confirm 12 positive coronavirus cases including nine players and three staff members

A total of 12 individuals at Super League side Hull FC have now tested positive for coronavirus.

Earlier this week, the club's forthcoming home fixture against the Castleford Tigers - scheduled to take place at Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday - was postponed after six players and two members of staff tested positive for Covid-19 following a 54-18 defeat by the Salford Red Devils.

Salford's next contest against the Catalans Dragons was also called off.

Players and staff from Hull FC and Salford later underwent a second round of coronavirus testing, with the Rugby Football League providing an update on the situation on Saturday morning.

While all tested at Salford returned negative results for the second time this week, Hull FC's cases are now up to 12, with nine players - including seven that were in the matchday squad for the clash with Salford - and three staff members in total having tested positive.

The rest of the squad and staff tested negative for a second time.

"Hull FC continue to work closely with the Rugby Football League and Public Health England," the Rugby Football League said in a statement.

"Both the club and Rugby League Cares are providing welfare support to the players and staff affected by Covid-19."

In addition to their next Super League fixture being delayed, Hull FC's Coral Challenge Cup sixth-round encounter with Castleford, due to be played at Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium on August 22, has also been postponed.
