Super Lap Scotland event shows Knockhill is ready for the BTCC

AHEAD of this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship visit to Knockhill, racing action has been taking place without spectators.

But regular Road Record photographer John Stewart was allowed to capture the action – which you can see in these video galleries. They show the famous Fife venue is more than ready to welcome back the major BTCC motorsport competition.

Last weekend saw competitors taking part in the Super Lap Scotland (SLS) time-trial challenge and ModSports event.

With both series being joined by the Junior Saloon Car Championship and the Northern Saloons and Sports Car Championship, there was plenty of thrills and spills taking place on the 1.27-mile track.

The competitors raced the circuit anti-clockwise on Saturday, before returning for the more traditional outing on Sunday.

The SLS and ModSports competitors now turn their attention to Round 4, set to take place at Knockhill once again on Sunday, September 13.

A venue spokesman said: “A massive shout-out to all the drivers who participated over the weekend and a huge thank you to the NSSCC and JSCC Championships for heading to Knockhill.

“It’s great to have visiting race series at Knockhill and you guys put on a tremendous show over the course of the weekend.”
