Super-fit Scot trekked up Ben Nevis with 40kg weight for UK's highest workout

A super-fit Scot trekked up Ben Nevis while carrying a 40kg barbell to carry out Britain’s highest workout.

While wearing a weighted vest, Rory McAusland took part in high-intensity fitness challenges along the eight-mile route in a bid to raise awareness of soldier suicides.

On the hike up the mountain, he also carried out five 400m runs followed by 25 squats and completed a CrossFit workout at the summit.

Rory, 27, of Edinburgh , said: “I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected in some way by mental health. I’ve had my own struggles.”

Rory has raised £4500 of his £40,000 target for Combat Stress and the Samaritans so far.
