Belfast could be hosting an all-English Super Cup final this summer.
The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park is the venue for the showpiece game, which is played between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League.
This week we discovered who will play in the respective finals of both UEFA competitions.
The Champions League will be contested between Manchester City and Chelsea, so we are assured of an English winner there.
The Europa decider will see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United take on Spanish outfit Villarreal, who beat Arsenal in their semi-final last night.
That means we have four potential Super Cup match-ups:
- Manchester City v Manchester United
- Chelsea v Manchester United
- Manchester City v Villarreal
- Chelsea v Villarreal
The final will be played at Windsor Park on Wednesday, August 11, and it is hoped some fans will be allowed to attend the game, depending on Covid-19 regulations at that time.
A new pitch is set to be laid at the South Belfast venue at the end of the current Irish Premiership season, in preparation for the Super Cup fixture.
That means this year's Irish Cup semi-finals and final will be played at Mourneview Park, the home of Glenavon FC.
