'Super cars' to blast off from Malahide Castle for massive charity event
Car enthusiasts, listen up. The spectacle that is Cannonball, a massive charity drive around Ireland, will see drivers of top-class cars put it flat to the mat and begin their epic journey from Malahide Castle on Friday, September 17th at 10.30am.
Some of the cars that drivers will be journeying in include Ford GTs (for the first time in Ireland), McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Anyone who wants to go check out the cars can do so at Malahide Castle from 6pm on Thursday September 16th before the road trip around Ireland begins the next day.
The charity benefitting from this epic adventure will be The HOPE Foundation, an Irish Charity doing important work with the street children of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) in India. HOPE funds and operates over 60 projects which includes child protection homes, a hospital, an ambulance, counselling, food and nutrition, education, healthcare and the restoration of childhoods to children.
Cannonball will see drivers of these super cars blast from Malahide Castle and make their way to Cork before heading onto Kerry, Clare, Galway, Westmeath, Longford, Meath, Cavan, Louth and Antrim.
Founded by Kildare businessman Alan Bannon twelve years ago, the event is the largest organised road trip in Europe with its main sponsors milesPLUS and Circle K. Other sponsors of the event include Manhattan Popcorn, BRÚ Brewery, AP Haslam All Cables, Grafton Barber, Majestic Ireland, HONE, Karl Goodwin Motors and AB Signs.
So far, the event has raised a whopping €1,150,000 for important Irish charities.
