Serena Williams is sharing an empowering feminist message as she stars in a new Super Bowl advert for the dating app Bumble.
Ahead of the 2019 Super Bowl on Sunday, the 37-year-old posted a video of herself in the #InHerCourt commercial for the app on Instagram.
The 30-second advert will air during the first quarter of the game.
The clip sees the tennis champion standing on a tennis court wearing a white tennis dress and bouncing a tennis ball.
In a voiceover, the 23-time Grand Slam title winner can be heard telling viewers: “The world tells you to wait; that waiting is polite and that good things will just come."
“But If I had waiting to be invited in...I never would have stood out."
Several archived pieces of footage then play showing Williams’ triumphs on the tennis court over the years, before she adds: “If I waited for change to happen, I never would have made a difference. So make the first move.
“Don't wait to be told your place, take it. Don't wait for people to find you. Find them. In work. In love, in life.”
The camera pans across Williams’ office to a picture taken on her wedding day to Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, with whom she shares 17-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia.
“And most of all, don't wait to be given power - beacuse here's what they won't tell you…” she continues.
“We already have it!” concludes the athlete, delivering her final words looking straight to camera.
The Instagram video has been viewed over 441,000 times with fans of the star commending the athlete for her inspiring words.
“Such a powerful message for the young and not so young,” wrote one user.
“You’re so inspiring,” added another.
One fan commented: “I have watched this too many times but can’t stop.”
Since its launch in 2014 Bumble has been renowned for its female-focussed ethos, allowing only female users to make the first contact with a potential match on the app.
Williams’ post comes over a week since she was defeated by Karolina Pliskova in the 2019 Australian Open.
