With the Super Bowl fast approaching, it’s time to start locking in some bets and getting ready to make back all that was lost during a rough regular season of betting (or was that just me?).
There are dozens of fun and equally unpredictable prop bets for the big game, but there’s nothing like the old reliables. Which is why I compiled lists of best bets for each of the traditional player props, just as I did for the conference championships.
Here’s a look at my picks for each wide receiver and tight end prop between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, with odds from BetMGM.
Travis Kelce, Chiefs
O/U 7.5 receptions: Over (+115)
O/U 79.5 receiving yards: Over (-115)
Anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (-125)
It seems like the Chiefs’ entire receiving corps is on the injury report, so yeah, Kelce should be a big part of this game plan (as if he wouldn’t be either way). He’s only actually recorded eight receptions twice in his last 11 games, but four catches in each half doesn’t seem that farfetched.
A.J. Brown, Eagles
O/U 5.5 receptions: Under (-155)
O/U 72.5 receiving yards: Under (-115)
It’s been a rough postseason for Brown, and I’m not sure the Chiefs are going to make it that much easier for him to break out. He’ll likely be a big focus of their secondary, which should at least create opportunities for others.
Dallas Goedert, Eagles
O/U 4.5 receptions: Over (-145)
O/U 49.5 receiving yards: Under (-120)
Goedert has been a favorite target of Jalen Hurts’ all season, and that hasn’t changed in the playoffs where he’s averaging five catches per contest. I don’t expect his grabs to go for many yards, but he should be a nice third-down security blanket.
DeVonta Smith, Eagles
O/U 4.5 receptions: Over (-160)
O/U 62.5 receiving yards: Over (-110)
Anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (+150)
If you take away Smith’s big first-quarter grab against the Niners, he had a nothing game in the conference championship. But he’s easily been the Eagles’ top receiver since late in the regular season, recording at least five catches in the seven prior games and 100 yards in four of those.
Quez Watkins, Eagles
O/U 1.5 receptions: Under (-145)
O/U 12.5 receiving yards: Under (-120)
Watkins just hasn’t been a big part of the Eagles offense, seeing one target all postseason and no catches. Even if they find a way to get him the ball once, I don’t expect a huge shift in the game plan on this stage.
