Super Bowl halftime show: Maroon 5 and Travis Scott performance criticised as 'worst in event's history'

The Super Bowl halftime show was the moment we had all been waiting for.

But music fans across the world were left disappointed following Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi’s somewhat underwhelming performance on Sunday evening.

From criticising the concert for lasting “too long” to viewers describing it as “rough” and “boring”, Twitter users haven’t held back when it comes to expressing their criticism for the show.

“I’ve never seen Maroon 5 live and I’m beginning to understand why...,” wrote one user.

“Could this game be any more boring?” added another.

One less than impressed Super Bowl fan tweeted: “I don’t ever want to see Travis Scott and Maroon 5 in the same sentence again. This is horrible.”

Even basketball legend LeBron James admitted he was confused by the proceedings, writing: “Soooooooo...... This halftime show though. That’s all for Travis or nah?!?!?!”

Maroon 5 kicked off the halftime show, performing several songs from their 2002 debut album, Songs About Jane, much to several millennial fans’ dismay.

Despite the negative feedback aimed at the band, Twitter users couldn’t get enough of their brief tribute to SpongeBob Squarepants.

That said, others were annoyed the 30-second animated sequence introduced Scott, despite a petition asking for the cartoon’s song “Sweet Victory” to be performed in full at the show after receiving over 1.2 million signatures.

Levine and Scott then came together to duet on the latter’s track “Sicko Mode” before a marching band later introduced Maroon 5’s 2018 hit single, “Girls Like You”, originally featuring Cardi B.
