Super Bowl by the numbers

Jan. 27--Whether measured by money, tweets or chicken wings, Super Bowl Sunday promises to be extravagant, as usual, according to WalletHub, a social networking site focused on personal finance.

Some 171 million people are anticipated to tune in from 180 countries to watch the Seattle Seahawks face off against the New England Patriots, according to the organization's second annual Super Bowl By the Numbers report.

The average ticket price is expected to be $4,833.

"So, who is going to the Super Bowl?" said WalletHub spokeswoman Jill Gonzalez. "Is it your average fan or people in a more corporate position? I think little things like that are interesting to fans."

WalletHub, which is funded through third party advertising, compiled its projections from a variety of industry sources, including the Arizona Super Bowl Committee, Ticketmaster, ESPN, the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the National Chicken Council.

Here are some other figures:

-- Ticket prices dropped 18 percent when the teams were finalized.

-- A 30-second ad costs $4.5 million, a price that has increased 75 percent in the last decade.

-- In total, $359 million is expected to be spent on ads in this year's Super Bowl.

-- 25.7 million tweets are expected to be sent during the game.

-- More than 1 billion chicken wings are expected to be consumed.

-- People are expected to wager $115 million on the game.

-- Las Vegas casinos expect $18.9 million in profits.
