Super Bowl 54: 7 bold predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs look to win their first Super Bowl in 50 years when they face the San Francisco 49ers at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium Sunday. The bold preditions are on tap:

The Chiefs will score first

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City has fallen behind by double digits in each of its first two playoff games. If that happens in the Super Bowl, don’t expect a repeat of Kansas City’s Kardiac Kids. Patrick Mahomes will get the Chiefs in gear and they will be the team to first take a 0 off the scoreboard.

Kelce will reach 100 yards receiving

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers may contain the Chiefs’ high-powered offense but they won’t be able to stymie great TE Travis Kelce. While he may not get to double-digits in receptions, Kelce will get to triple figures in receiving yards. Some people are just gonna do what they do.

Butker will reach double figures

 Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Expect the Chiefs to have some issues finding their way into the end zone. So, that puts the pressure on Harrison Butker to deliver. The second-year kicker will kick a trio of field goals and a pair of PATs to get him to the 11-point mark.

Chiefs’ running backs won’t produce

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Patrick Mahomes has led Kansas City in rushing in each of its two playoffs games, with 53 yards apiece. Do not expect anyone in the Kansas City running game to deliver more than 60 yards. The Niners’ will stuff them early and often.

Clark will sack Garoppolo

 Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Frank Clark has been a post-season sack machine, notching four in two victories. Look for the former Seahawk to find his way to Jimmy Garoppolo and sack the Niners’ quarterback at least once.

Hill won’t reach the century mark

USAT

Tyreek Hill is the Chiefs’ deep threat and speed demon. Expect Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers to find a way to keep Hill under wraps and he won’t reach 100 yards.

Reid won’t get a ring

Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

The sentimental favorite is Andy Reid, who has been a head coach in the NFL since 1999 and has not earned a Super Bowl ring. Don’t think he will come away from Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium being prepared to be fit for a ring. Not this go-round. The good news is with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback there should be return engagements.
