Super Bowl 50: Donald Trump declares proceedings 'boring' and politics 'much more exciting'

Super Bowl 50 may be the event on everyone's lips on Monday morning after such a memorable half-time show, but not everyone was impressed with proceedings.

Beyonce dominated the show with a stirring, politically charged performance of her new single, "Formation", using her platform to tackle the issue of racial discrimination and pay tribute to the Black Panther Party, a radical black protest movement launched in the 1960s.

Her dancers also drew attention to the killing of Mario Woods, a black man who was shot and fatally wounded by San Francisco police, by holding a ‘justice for Mario Woods” sign in front of a camera.

Before this, Lady Gaga wowed the audience with a vocally impressive and roundly well-received performance of the National Anthem. Chris Martin meanwhile was declared 2016’s left shark after being sandwiched between Beyonce and Bruno Mars as the pair gave show-stopping performances.

But of course, none of this was enough to captivate Donald Trump, who declared the entire event “boring” and used it to once again whip out “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”.

The Republican front-runner often uses his Twitter feed to distract from major events and direct attention back on himself. But it seems his attempts were futile this morning as the Super Bowl continued to top trends, search and social media.
