Super Bowl 2019: Maroon 5 sales jump by 488% following halftime show performance

Maroon 5‘s Super Bowl halftime show was overall deemed underwhelming – but the band’s sales have soared regardless.

Sales of Maroon 5’s entire catalog jumped by 488 per cent following the gig, Billboard reported.

That increase is even more pronounced for the six songs the group performed on stage. “Harder to Breathe”, “This Love”, “Girls Like You”, “She Will Be Love”, “Sugar” and “Moves Like Jagger” have experienced a combined 587 per cent jump, according to the website.

Travis Scott, who joined Adam Levine and the rest of the band for a brief performance, saw sakes of his song “Sicko Mode”, which he performed during the halftime show, go up by 80 per cent.

Sales of Outkast‘s “The Way You Move”, which Big Boy (who formed the iconic hip-hop duo with André 3000) sang in a guest appearance, soared by 3,408 per cent.

As for the song “Sweet Victory”, featured in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants and during the halftime show in a brief animated sequence prior to Scott’s performance, it saw its downloads increased by a significant 524 per cent.

More than 1.2 million people had signed an online petition asking for the song to be played during the Super Bowl to honour late SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg, but the tune didn’t air in full.
