Super agent begins talks with Man City over Matthijs de Ligt and more transfer rumours

Mino Raiola has reportedly begun talks with Manchester City over a possible move for Matthijs de Ligt.

Although the former Ajax defender reportedly has no issues at Juventus, his agent is said to view the situation differently, and is already making steps to find his client a new club.

According to Calciomercato, Raiola has initiated talks with City, as well as a few more of Europe’s top clubs.

Juve though are ‘not willing to grant discounts’ for De Ligt, and any club looking to prise him away from Turin will have to part with €150m as per his release clause.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side do not want to let the player leave, and are of the opinion there won’t be many clubs able to meet their demands.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race for Raheem Sterling after the 26-year-old put clubs across Europe on high alert.

The England international admitted he would be open to leaving City if his opportunities did not increase, having struggled for playing time under Pep Guardiola so far this season.

Sterling, who did start in City’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, has reportedly been eyeing up a loan move to Barcelona after becoming frustrated with the lack of opportunities in the current campaign.

But it’s not just the Catalan giants who are said to be showing an interest, with their great rivals also said to be in the running.

According to Spanish publication AS, Sterling is on Real’s radar as they look at possible replacements for Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale, who have all been linked with moves away.

The same publication are also reporting that Newcastle United will challenge City for the signing of Erling Haaland following their recent takeover.

AS (via SportWitness ) state it is ‘not out of the question’ for the Toon to try and sign the Borussia Dortmund striker, who has more than his fair share of admirers across Europe.

City, PSG and Real Madrid have all been linked with the Norwegian, although AS have suggested the latter appear to be drifting away from the race.

And with Newcastle now having considerable funds to call upon following their Saudi takeover, they could well be in a position to challenge for one of Europe’s hottest properties.
