Hae-in meets Thai fans
In the competitive world of showbiz, some performers take a long time to make their breakthrough. Rising Korean star Jung Hae-in knows this all too well. The actor first made an appearance in the romantic comedy show, Bride of the Century four years ago. He spent the next few years acting in various film and TV roles without getting much attention.
Then, last year, Hae-in finally stole the limelight for his performance as a nice guy in the romantic fantasy, While You Were Sleeping. His charismatic character and believable performance made him an overnight sensation. This year, the 30-year-old landed his first leading role in the romantic drama Something in the Rain, available on Netflix. Hae-in plays a charming young man who dates his older sister’s best friend. The success of the show has led to Hae-in’s tour around Asia to meet his fans.
On June 2, at Ultra-Arena Hall, Show DC, the actor welcomed the audience at Jung Hae-in: Smile Fan Meeting in Bangkok with a rendition of “Today, I Miss You” from While You Were Sleeping. As the enjoyable evening progressed, the star gave interviews and played basketball and Jenga with lucky fans. Even though Hae-in isn’t naturally playful, his expressions and body language told us that he was happy and grateful to his fans.

Here are some highlights from the interviews at the event.

How do you feel to be visiting Thailand?
Hae-in: One thing that really hit me is that Thai people smile very easily. I can’t help smiling back. I’m thrilled to be here.
Do you remember your very first day on set?

Which of the roles that you’ve done has been your favourite so far?
Hae-in: I like Joon-hee in Something in the Rain the most. Making the show was the most enjoyable experience I’ve had so far.
What kind of actor would you like to be?
Hae-in: I’d like to be an actor who brings happiness to audiences.
What do you do in your free time?
Hae-in: I like to watch movies and TV dramas or sometimes hang out with friends and drink some beer.
