Gold Coast defender Charlie Ballard is the fourth AFL player facing suspension from an incident-packed round two, hit with a one-match ban for striking Essendon's Matt Guelfi.

The clash occurred during the third quarter of the Suns' 28-point defeat to the Bombers at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

Ballard's strike was graded intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

It was the only incident assessed out of Sunday's matches.

Richmond defender Nathan Broad faces a ban of at least three weeks for his sling tackle on Adelaide's Patrick Parnell earlier in the round, and will front the tribunal on Tuesday night.

Port Adelaide defender Ryan Burton has elected not to challenge a two-match suspension for his tackle on Collingwood's Jamie Elliott.

And North Melbourne co-captain Jy Simpkin will miss one match for striking Fremantle's Caleb Serong.

If he makes an early guilty plea, Ballard will miss Gold Coast's round-three clash with Geelong at Heritage Bank Stadium on Sunday.

The sanction would be a blow to the Suns, who are winless after losses to Sydney and the Bombers over the opening two rounds.
