A spell of sunshine is on its way to Merseyside this weekend ahead of a UK weather shake up, as Hurricane Dorian looms.
It was a windy start to the week, with high tides in New Brighton and on Crosby Beach.
But temperatures are set to rise just in time for the weekend, with hours of sunshine forecast.
Early risers will wake up on Saturday to light cloud and a gentle breeze.
However from 9am the sun will make an appearance and by midday the weather will be a comfortable 16C with sunny skies.
People visiting Southport Airshow this weekend will be happy to hear that the sunny weather will continue right on into the afternoon.
With temperatures set to stay at 16C until 6pm, before dropping down by another degree to 14C by sunset.
The Met Office said: "Tonight is a mostly dry and chilly night with light winds and clear spells.
"There's a chance for the odd shower along the Irish Sea coast, particularly for counties adjacent with Liverpool Bay. Minimum temperature 6 °C.
"After a chilly morning on Saturday it will be a dry day with sunny spells, light winds, and perhaps the odd shower Maximum temperature 18 °C."
Meanwhile on Sunday more sun is forecast from 7am, with clouds moving in from 10am, up until around 7pm.
Despite the calm weekend the UK is on high alert for lashing winds and torrential rain, which is expected to arrive around the middle of next week as Hurricane Dorian hits.
Hurricane Dorian is set to join forces with another churning tropical vortex before heading to Britain to unleash storm hell.
The full extent of how the storm will affect the UK is not yet known however the Met Office said it will likely bring" a bout of wet and windy weather mainly to northern parts of Britain towards the middle of next week".
