Sunil Singhania-backed Abakkus Small Cap Fund adds 3 new stocks, increases stake in HDFC Bank, SBI and 49 others

Sunil Singhania backed Abakkus Small Cap Fund added three new stocks in its portfolio as the new entrants in May and increased its stake in HDFC Bank, State Bank of India and 49 other stocks in the same period.

The smallcap fund added Tanla Platforms (2.70 lakh shares), Intellect Design Arena (2.05 lakh shares) and Q-Line Biotech (3.94 lakh shares) to its portfolio in May as new entrants.

Around 1.10 lakh shares of HDFC Bank were added to the portfolio taking the total share count to 1.80 lakh in May against 70,000 in April. Nearly 30,000 shares of State Bank of India were added to the portfolio in the same period.

Among the other 49 stocks, the maximum number of shares were added of Equitas Small Finance Bank as the fund added nearly 8 lakh shares of this stock in its portfolio and had a total 27 lakh shares in its portfolio in May.

Nearly 6.50 lakh shares of Edelweiss Financial Services were added to the portfolio in May, followed by 4 lakh shares of Urban Company and 3.33 lakh shares of NCC in the same period.

The other major stocks where the fund increased its exposure were RBL Bank, CAMS, PNB Housing Finance, Dr. Lal Pathlabs, Kirlosakar Oil Engines, Canara Robeco AMC, The Anup Engineering, Arvind Fashions, Wework India Management, Aether Industries, Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts, Ion Exchange (India), Concor, Bank of Baroda, and Divi’s Laboratories.

The fund neither made a complete exit from any stock nor reduced its exposure in any in the month of May.

The exposure remained unchanged in eight stocks which were Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Iron and Steel, Vedanta, Oracle Financial Services Software, and Cyient DLM.

In May, the smallcap fund had 62 stocks in its portfolio compared to 59 stocks in the previous month. The portfolio is spread across 21 sectors as of May 31, 2026 which includes sectors such as healthcare, bank, business services, capital goods, finance, IT, iron & steel, automobiles & ancillaries, infrastructure and chemicals.

The fund had an allocation of 13.02% in healthcare and 8.34% in banks. As a percentage to NAV, the fund had the highest allocation in Cemindia Projects where the allocation was 1.97%, followed by Welspun Corporation where the allocation was 1.96%.

Since its inception on March 17, 2026 the fund has gained 15.81%. It holds 5.09% in large caps, 3.66% in mid caps, 73.12% in small caps and 18.14% in others.

Abakkus Small Cap Fund aims at delivering long-term capital appreciation by investing in a diversified portfolio of small cap companies in India. The fund comes at a time when small-cap equities are offering potentially attractive entry valuations and structural growth opportunities.

The performance of the fund is benchmarked against Nifty Smallcap 250 - TRI and is managed by Abhishek Srinivas.

The fund will allocate 65-100% in equity and equity related instruments of smallcap companies, 0-35% in equity and equity related instruments of companies other than small cap, 0-35% in debt securities (including securitised debt & debt derivatives) and money market instruments, and 0-10% in units issued by InvITs.
