Sunglasses firm turns over production line to make hundreds of face shields

A London eyewear brand is making hundreds of PPE face shields to donate to frontline workers.

The founder of Taylor Morris, which usually sells handmade sunglasses costing upwards of £120, asked workers in the factory where his frames are produced to start making face shields after orders dipped due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The PPE, which meets the standards needed for NHS frontline workers, will then be distributed to organisations in need for free.

Nicholas Dellaportas, 34, who launched the brand seven years ago with former Made in Chelsea star Hugo Taylor, said 500 shields for hospitals have been ordered.

In future, for every pair of frames bought by a customer, the brand will donate five shields to places in need.

Mr Dellaportas added: “Supporting our local community is always important to us and now more than ever. We therefore wanted to assess how we as a business could do our bit.”
