
Visitors walk through a field of sunflowers at Himawari no Sato (Sunflower village) in Hokuryu, Hokkaido. The roughly 23-hectare field contains about 1.5 million sunflowers, transforming the hill into a sea of yellow. According to the town government, heavy rain and low temperatures in early July slowed the growth of the sunflowers this year while also stunting their height. However, the best period for observing them is the same as in a normal year.
