Couturier Suneet Varma showcased his couture collection, 'Noor' at FDCI's second digital edition of India Couture Week. The collection saw beautiful pastels embroidered with delicate beads, crystals and thread-work and bridal reds with intricate gold thread work and silver zardozi.
Suneet took everyone on an exciting journey of young lovers, secret love notes, stolen glances, and the importance of celebration in life. Depicting real-life scenarios and weaving his couture collection 2021 in the film showcased digitally, Suneet added, "I understand the importance of finery and couture at an Indian wedding, and I also understand the needs of the modern young Bride and Groom- whether the wedding is a lavish one or an intimate elopement"
The collection comprised beautiful pastels - in mint, ice-blue, blush, and yellow, with tone-on-tone embroidery in delicate glass beads, crystals, and threadwork for a daytime function in ultra-feminine, soft, flowy silhouettes. Sheer sleeves, off-shoulder necklines, and deep scalloped backs make for a sensual yet modest young bride. The groom wore easy, pastel-colored sherwanis with thread embroidery and modern hemlines.
The wedding collection included varied shades of ruby, sindoor, and sienna reds. The embroidery was more lavish in gold zari threadwork with silver zardosi to give it a modern twist.
Day 2 also saw the debut of India Couture Week debut of Delhi-based designer Siddartha Tytler, who showcased his exquisite Ambrosia Couture 2022 Collection.
This inspirational collection bore the hallmark of a heady engagement with the finesse and excellent craft of a designer who continues to make waves with each new offering.
Ambrosia, in Greek mythology, is the ‘Nectar of the God.’ The Couture 2022 collection titled “Ambrosia” sought its inspiration from purity, color and ethereal significance. Its color palette is dominated by ivory and shades of gold.
The surface ornamentation reveled in sequin, crystal splashes, beadwork and threadwork, ruffles and pleating, laser cutting and quilting.
The evening also saw Gaurav Gupta present his film titled ‘Universal Love’. Gaurav Gupta Couture 2021/22 is inspired by the universe. The expanse of the cosmos, the millions of stars, the axis and the movement of all planets; sprinkling and spiralling in infinite loops of time, meteoric showers and racing comets inspire abstract galactic embroideries and silhouettes. The garments exuded a sense of expanse and grandeur of the cosmos. All done to strive -perfect harmony and love. The collection was shamelessly glittering and glamorously star like.
