Sunderland vs Rochdale team news: Parkinson resists changes for Dale test

Phil Parkinson named an unchanged side, sticking with the same Sunderland starting XI that began the weekend win over Ipswich Town.

He also named the same seven substitutes, which meant January additions Kyle Lafferty, Josh Scowen, and Antoine Semenyo, were on the bench.

Rochdale boss Brian Barry-Murphy made two changes to the side that drew at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Stephen Dooley came into the side in place of Oliver Rathbone, whose late goal had rescued a point against Rovers.

And Jim McNulty replaced former Sunderland defender Paul McShane, who dropped to the bench.
