Sunderland vs Hull City early team news: Lynden Gooch set to return but Alex Pritchard is touch and go

Alex Pritchard is a doubt for Sunderland's final game of pre-season against Hull City.

The 28-year-old has been eased back into training after contracting Covid-19 just days after finalising his move to the Stadium of Light.

The creative midfielder has missed all of Sunderland's pre-season fixtures so far and Lee Johnson claims the former Brentford and Norwich man would only be operating at around 30 per cent tomorrow.

However, it's not all bad news for the Black Cats.

Lynden Gooch is set to return having been forced off the field of play in Sunderland's draw with York City last week.

The United States international tweaked his hamstring in the first half of the friendly against the Minstermen but is set to play some part against Hull.

Aiden McGeady was rested for the midweek trip to Tranmere having had injections in his knee and is in line to play against Grant McCann's side.

Bailey Wright played around 80 minutes at Prenton Park having been side-lined with a groin problem.

The Tigers will prove a stern test for Lee Johnson's side, having won the League One title last year and are gearing up for life in the Championship.

McCann's side came through two friendlies against Scunthorpe and Mansfield Town unscathed and look set to have a full squad available to them for tomorrow's game.
