Sunderland welcomed Doncaster to the Stadium of Light for Friday Night Football.
The Black Cats came into the game unbeaten in seven - winning their last three games.
There were few chances in the first half with neither side able to dominate the game - and it finished 0-0.
The referee copped most of the attention with some dubious decisions - including a booking for Charlie Wyke for a diving.
The second half wasn't much better - Sunderland fans having to wait until the 77th minute for the first effort on target - Luke O'Nien with it.
Duncan Watmore had a chance to knick at the end but saw his effort tipped wide.
