Sunderland vs Charlton Athletic team news - Jordan Jones drops to the bench

Lee Johnson made three changes to the side that started Monday's draw at Peterborough.

Josh Scowen returned in midfield in place of Grant Leadbitter, while Lynden Gooch replaced Jordan Jones.

And Aiden O'Brien came in for Ross Stewart, who had made his first start for the club at London Road.

Leadbitter, Jones and Stewart were all included on the bench, as was Denver Hume who made his Sunderland comeback from a hamstring injury as a sub at Peterborough.

Charlton boss Nigel Adkins named the same starting XI that began their Good Friday win at Doncaster Rovers, which meant former Sunderland defender Adam Matthews was back at the Stadium of Light.

But the Addicks' leading scorer Chuks Aneke was again missing due to a groin injury.

You can follow all the action from the Stadium of Light this afternoon in our live blog.

SAFC XI: Burge, Power, Sanderson, O'Nien, McFadzean, Scowen, Winchester, O'Brien, Gooch, MGeady, Wyke

Subs: Matthews, McLaughlin, Diamond, Leadbitter, Jones, Stewart, Hume
