Sunderland vs AFC Wimbledon team news as Alex Pritchard makes his first league start, and Lee Burge pulls out

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson handed Alex Pritchard his first league start for the club.

Pritchard's inclusion was the only planned change to the Black Cats side that started the weekend defeat at Burton Albion, with fellow new signing left-back Dennis Cirkin making way as he dropped to the bench.

But shortly before kick-off Lee Burge felt a niggle in the warm-up and he was replaced by Anthony Patterson, with the youngster making his league debut for the club, with Burge switching to the bench instead.

Pritchard's debut meant a slight reshuffle, with Dan Neil dropping back to take Cirkin's place in defence while Pritchard filled the gap left by Neil in midfield.

Johnson also included two more new arrivals, defender Frederik Alves and striker Nathan Broadhead, on the bench.

But there was no place for latest signing Niall Huggins, with the former Leeds United left-back arriving too late yesterday to be eligible for today's game.

AFC Wimbledon boss Mark Robinson made six changes to the side that started the weekend draw against Gillingham.

In came Cheye Alexander, Anthony Hartigan, Ollie Palmer, Ethan Chislett, Luke McCormick, and Ben Heneghan, with Paul Kalambayi, Daniel Csoka, George Marsh, Paul Osew, Aaron Pressley, and Dapo Mebude, making way.
