A patched-up Sunderland side had to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats are in the grips of a Covid-19 outbreak, with the bench largely made up of youth players, as eight first-teamers were ruled out.
However, they had the better of the first-half chances, with Will Grigg going close early on.
Elliot Embleton then tested visiting keeper Connal Trueman, while at the other end, Ryan Longman tested Lee Burge.
Aiden O'Brien then set up Embleton, but his effort was saved.
However, Callum McFadzean was adjudged to have fouled Jack Rudoni, and Joe Piggot scored from the spot.
The Black Cats were level halfway through the second half when Bailey Wright volleyed home as Sunderland's pressure told.
They were grateful to the woodwork to keep Longman's effort out, while Callum Reilly missed a late opportunity,
Here's how James Hunter rated the Sunderland players.
LEE BURGE 7
A couple of good stops from Longman and could do nothing about the penalty
CONOR McLAUGHLIN 6
Solid at right-back
DION SANDERSON 7
Impressed with his coolness and composure at the heart of defence
BAILEY WRIGHT 7
Defensively strong and came up with an excellent finish for the equaliser
CALLUM McFADZEAN 5
Gave away a needless penalty and was caught out a couple of times by Longman’s pace
ELLIOT EMBLETON 6
Brought a decent save out of the keeper in the first half, and did his best to unlock the defence
GRANT LEADBITTER 7
Controlled the game from the middle of the park
GEORGE DOBSON 6
Did OK, but was sacrificed at the break with Sunderland needing more attacking impetus
JACK DIAMOND 7
His direct running caused problems for Wimbledon, and he provided the assist for Wright
WILL GRIGG 6
One early chance which went straight at the keeper
AIDEN O’BRIEN 6
A few nice touches in the final third but never really looked like scoring
