Sunderland to face more League One opposition if they win their FA Cup first round replay

Sunderland will entertain either AFC Wimbledon or Doncaster Rovers if they win their FA Cup first round replay against Gillingham next week.

The Black Cats face a replay against the Gills at Priestfield after the sides drew 1-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

And the winners will be at home in another all League One tie, with Wimbledon and Doncaster also set for a replay next week after their initial first round meeting ended in a 1-1 draw at Kingsmeadow, to be played over the weekend of November 30.

The draw was conducted by Dion Dublin and Mark Bright at Oaklands Park, the home of Chichester FC - the lowest ranked team left in the competition - who received a bye in the first round.

Sunderland have never previously met AFC Wimbledon, who were founded in 2002, in this competition.

And the their only previous FA Cup meeting with Doncaster came in the third round at Roker Park in 1954, when two first-half goals from Eddie McMorran caused an upset as the Second Division side knocked the First Division Black Cats out of the competition.

If Sunderland do end up facing the Dons, it could see Kazaiah Sterling return to the Stadium of Light with the Spurs striker currently on loan with the South Yorkshire side, having spent the second half of last season on Wearside.
