Sunderland set to travel LNER Community Stadium to face York City in pre-season

Sunderland will travel to the LNER Community Stadium to face York City in pre-season.

The Black Cats will kick-off at 7pm on Wednesday, July 21 against the Minstermen with ticketing details to follow.

It's the second pre-season friendly that's been confirmed by the Wearsiders, with Lee Johnson's side also in action against National League North opposition, Spennymoor Town on Saturday, July 3 at 3pm.

The Black Cats head coach has also revealed the club could travel to Scotland to honour a friendly agreement with Ross County.

"It's difficult to know what to do for pre-season at the moment given the situation, but of course we have to do some planning," Johnson told ChronicleLive.

"We've talked about a few things, one of those being a visit to Scotland.

"One of the things I want is a bit of interaction with the fans, so I thought that if we went to Scotland we might take a few up there.
