Sunderland are in line to reward Anthony Patterson with a new contract after his performances helped the Black Cats win promotion to the Championship. The Sun, claims the Black Cats academy graduate will be rewarded for his fine displays with a new deal.
Patterson is approaching the final year of his contract and is set for a pay rise if he accepts the terms of his new deal. The young goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the League One play-off final win over Wycombe Wanderers and looked assured between the sticks.
There have long been calls for Patterson to start between the sticks from the Red and White Army, but the youngster grabbed his opportunity when returning from a loan spell with Notts County. He made 15 appearances for the Black Cats this season, including two in the FA Cup.

The 22-year-old joined County in September on a loan deal until the end of October, but the deal was later extended until January. He made 11 appearances for the Magpies, keeping three clean sheets in that time.
Patterson is the only goalkeeper left at the club after Lee Burge was released and Ron-Thorben Hoffmann returned to Bayern Munich after a loan spell. Patterson is expected to tie down a new long-term deal.
