Sunderland's heroes and villains - rate the Black Cats stars from the 2018-19 campaign

The curtain has finally come down on what has been a long and eventful season for Sunderland.

The climax was anything but what Black Cats fans wanted, as they could only watch their side miss out on promotion to the Championship after the cruelest of late blows.

A season of work was undone by Patrick Bauer's 95th-minute winner for Charlton at Wembley, leaving Jack Ross and Co to lick their wounds and prepare for another season of League One football.

It's easy to focus on that defining moment in the play-off final, but it would wrong to ignore the hard work which went in across the entire campaign.

Ross arrived on Wearside 12 months ago with a major overhaul of the playing squad needed, and wasted little time in making the signings he felt were necessary to push for promotion.

Some were a resounding success, others less so.

Josh Maja's January departure meant the need for more striking options, with £3m signing Will Grigg arriving from Wigan. Did the Black Cats get value for money in that deal, or will they be rewarded next term when, hopefully, the Northern Ireland forward will be firing on all cylinders?

We want to know who impressed you most over the Black Cats' campaign - and who needs to improve to play a role in the coming season.

Rate each Sunderland player out of 10 below, and we'll collate the results to see who your top players were.
