Sunderland promotion hopes boosted as Portsmouth close in but Bristol Rovers fade - How League One should look

Whilst the football season may be suspended due to the coronavirus, one famous Saturday afternoon institution is still ongoing.

For almost 100 years, the Pools Panel have been predicting results up and down the divisions, with a group of experts calling results of matches that have been postponed.

They have now resorted to doing the same - but on a much larger scale - during the coronavirus suspensions.

With matches postponed rather than cancelled, the pools panel have opted to continue the season and predicted pretty much every Premier League and EFL result themselves.

It has produced some interesting results in League One.

Bristol Rovers would be comfortably mid-table, having done the double over Ipswich Town.

The Gas would be 20 points off the play-off places, and 18 points clear of relegation.

Rovers would have picked up seven points from their six postponed matches, winning two, drawing one and losing three.

At the top of the table, Coventry City would be nine points clear with a game in hand, almost guaranteed of promotion.

Yet the rest of the promotion and play-off spots would be fully up for grabs.

Just three points would seperate second to eighth, with Rotherham United in second on 74 points and Wycombe Wanderers eighth on 71 points.

Doncaster Rovers in ninth, on 67 points, would also likely have their eyes on a play-off spot.

If the Pools' predictions were to come true, it would have set up an exciting end to the season.
