Sunderland post office closes temporarily due to coronavirus

A post office in Sunderland has announced it will close temporarily due to coronavirus.

The owner of Fulwell Post Office on Sea Road, in Sunderland, said the business would close while they await more information from Public Health England regarding Covid-19.

The message was shared on the post office's Facebook page while its owner shared an important message to "keep wearing masks".

It said: "Sorry folks, I've been advised to close the Sea Road Fulwell Post Office for a few days while we await more information from Public Health due to Covid.

"I will update when I hear more. Remember to wear a mask and keep safe."

It comes after a number of schools across Sunderland partially closed last week due to reported cases of coronavirus.

Some asked year groups or bubbles to isolate at home, while others decided to close for a deep clean.

And today (September 28), it was reported that Boris Johnson is considering a near-total lockdown for the North East and other parts of the UK in a bid to bring coronavirus under control.

Almost 18 million people are now living under some form of lockdown measures in the north of England, south Wales, the Midlands and parts of Scotland.

But the Government is now reported to be considering tougher measures which would close all pubs, restaurants and bars for at least two weeks.
