Sunderland plotting move for Liverpool full back Tony Gallacher

Sunderland are in talks with Liverpool over a move for defender Tony Gallacher.

The youngster is primed to depart the club this summer and the Black Cats have enquired about a possible loan swoop for the Scottish youngster.

The Liverpool Echo claims Lee Johnson's side are also not ruling out a permanent switch with the two clubs locked in negotiations.

Gallacher is one of a number of Liverpool youngsters expected to leave the club this summer having found game time hard to come by.

The left-back signed for the Reds in 2018 from Falkirk for around £200,000 following a successful trial.

The 22-year-old was subsequently integrated into the club's academy setup and was handed a surprise first-team debut during the 2019-20 campaign.

With Jurgen Klopp's senior squad in Qatar for the Club World Cup, the 22-year-old was named in the makeshift side that suffered a 5-0 League Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

Gallacher has not featured for the Reds since and spent four months on loan with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC during the first half of last season.
