Sunderland plot loan move for Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison

Sunderland are interested in signing Sheffield United youngster Daniel Jebbison on loan.

The 6ft3 striker became the youngest player to score on their first Premier League start when he scored for the Blades against Everton on May 16, last season.

Big things are expected of the 18-year-old who was born in Canada, but represents England at youth level.

The Black Cats are in the market for a different option up front after Charlie Wyke left the club this summer.

Will Grigg and Ross Stewart both scored against Hull City but Johnson needs more strength in depth outside of the starting XI.

Jebbison is believed to have been at the Stadium of Light for the game against the Tigers and with Sunderland keen on a loan move for the striker.

Speaking after the game against Hull, Jamie McAllister said: "We need strength in depth and we know that.

"But from the coaching side of things we can only focus on the lads that are here and getting them ready for the games coming up.

"They've acquitted themselves really well in what has been a tough pre-season, the new lads have adapted to our new style of play.

"The big plus for us is the way the youngsters have gone through pre-season, a lot of them who have to play out position at times."
