Sunderland pitch for Stadium of Light naming rights with stunning video

Sunderland have revealed their pitch to search for the first ever sponsor of the Stadium of Light.

In the video above, which is headlined "Stadium naming rights with a difference", the club have aimed to showcase the myriad reasons which would make corporate sponsorship of the famous ground attractive.

It's a move not without controversy, with supporters famously wary of breaking with tradition and selling naming rights.

But with the current regime looking to maximise every possible revenue stream, the club has moved to open the possibility up to potential investors.

In 2m 30sec video, the club proudly displays an array of reasons why sponsoring the Stadium of Light would be so attractive.

Starting with the club's proud heritage, combined with the international attention to recent Netflix documentary "Sunderland Til I Die" brought to the club, it goes on to illustrate the loyal fanbase, the strong social media presence and the media focus on the Black Cats.

Referring to Sunderland AFC as "raw, honest and real", the music concerts held at the ground play a significant part in the piece, with the Spice Girls, Rihanna and the Foo Fighters just some of the acts featured.

Watch the video above to see the Stadium of Light in all its glory.
