Sunderland NHS workers' heartfelt thanks to Captain Tom for incredible fundraising efforts

Sunderland NHS workers paid tribute to hero Captain Tom Moore, 99, who raised over £18 million pounds for the NHS.

The war veteran raised the staggering amount by walking 100 laps around his garden to mark his upcoming 100th birthday on 30 April.

He finished his challenge on Thursday (April 16), as the public got behind him and donated to his Just Giving page.

Now Sunderland NHS workers have recorded a video for Captain Tom thanking him for "everything he's done" for the NHS.

In the video, one NHS worker said in the footage: "Hi Tom, everyone at Sunderland Royal A&E thanks you so much for everything that you've done for our NHS.

"Keep up the good work. We absolutely love you for everything you're doing. Thank you."

More than a dozen staff members gathered outside for the video as they clapped for Captain Tom and shouted out their thank-yous.

The public is now calling for Captain Tom to be knighted as the amount on his fundraising page continues to rise.
