Sunderland have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Abdoullah Ba from French side Le Havre for an undisclosed fee subject to international clearance and the conclusion of the work permit process.
The youngster has represented France across various youth levels and made 18 appearances in Ligue 2 last term as well as five already this campaign.
Ba becomes the second Frenchman to make the move to the Stadium of Light today with the capture of fellow midfielder Edouard Michu from Paris Saint-Germain confirmed earlier today.

On his move to Wearside, the 19-year-old told Sunderland's official website : “I’m very happy to be here because this is a big Club and one that has a lot of ambition, so I want to make a lot of progress and make sure we keep building on our history. I’m a midfielder, but I can play a lot of positions and I play with both feet – I like to have the ball to make passes and I also like to attack. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting started with Sunderland AFC.”
Ba was in attendance at the Stadium of Light this evening as new manager Tony Mowbray takes charge of his first match as Black Cats boss against Rotherham United.
