How Sunderland's recent form has affected the League One promotion odds

Sunderland's slight drop off in form has been reflected in a fall in the League One promotion odds table.

The Black Cats have failed to win in their last three games, losing at league leaders Coventry and drawing at home with Fleetwood Town and Gillingham.

While hardly cause for panic, picking up just two points from an available nine has allowed the chasing pack to catch up somewhat, with five teams all tied on 59 points ahead of Sunderland's game at Bristol Rovers.

The gap to second-placed Rotherham is just three points, but three of the sides level on points with the Black Cats - Portsmouth, Fleetwood and Wycombe have played a game less.

And that's reflected in the latest League One promotion betting odds.

Coventry are now overwhelming favourites to go up, and are quoted at 1/6 by Sky Bet to be playing Championship football next season.

Rotherham are also odds-on to be promoted, but the bookies have Portsmouth, Peterborough and in-form Oxford ahead of Sunderland.

It's incredibly tight, of course, so expect those odds to change in the Wearsiders' favour should they pick up positive results at Bristol Rovers and Blackpool in the next two.

League One promotion odds

Coventry 1/6

Rotherham 4/5

Portsmouth 7/4

Peterborough 15/8

Oxford 2/1

Sunderland 9/4

Fleetwood 3/1

Wycombe 10/1

Gillingham 66/1
