Sunderland have launched a club hall of fame and will induct 11 people into the hall in its inaugural ceremony on June 14.
Taking place in the Montgomery Suite at the Stadium of Light, it will honour past players, managers and others associated with the Wearside club throughout its rich history.
The first inductees are yet to be announced, but the club is keen to celebrate the heritage of one of England's oldest clubs. Since its formation in 1879 the club have won six top flight league titles and two FA Cups.
And the club are keen to honour legends of the club as far back as that, with former players and also families of legends inducted posthumously in attendance for the event.
But supporters can also attend the event, with tickets costing £75.
In its announcement the club said it will be 'the perfect opportunity for supporters and legends alike to come together and celebrate our incredible heritage, will see inductees interviewed on stage, with fans also offered a chance to share their memories of the all-time greats ahead of the event'.
Sponsored by Stagecoach North East, the prestigious gala dinner will take place on Friday 14 June from 6.30pm, as the first 11 Wearside legends are honoured for their outstanding achievements. Attendees will be treated to a drink’s reception upon arrival, before heading into the club’s famous Montgomery Suite where they will enjoy a three-course meal.
SAFC’s managing director, Tony Davison, said: “Throughout the year we have been thinking of the best way to celebrate our rich history as we approach the club’s 140 th anniversary.
“As youngsters, we were raised on tales of how Sunderland ruled the game, and now we are fortunate enough to be able to pass on our own memories to future generations, from that special day in ’73 to the unforgettable time we enjoyed under Peter Reid.
“The Hall of Fame will see us pay tribute to the men and women that have given so much to the club in years gone by, as we relive past glories and celebrate those who engineered some of the greatest moments in Wearside folklore.”
Tickets for the event cost £75 +VAT and can be booked now by clicking here or by calling 0371 911 1973.
