Sunderland in 'advanced talks' with Leeds United defender as Blackburn circle target

Sunderland are in 'advanced talks' with Niall Huggins according to the latest reports.

Pete O'Rourke claims that the Black Cats are in negotiations with the Whites youngster who looks set to leave Elland Road this summer.

It's unclear at this stage whether Huggins' move to Wearside will be a permanent one or a loan move.

The 20-year-old was handed a surprise first-team debut from the bench last season against Arsenal.

Huggins looked more than capable of playing a part in the Leeds First Team and it was one of nine occasions on which he was included in Bielsa’s matchday squad.

The defender is able to operate on either side of the defence as a full-back and has even made appearances in midfield for Mark Jackson's side as they won the Premier League 2 Division Two title.

Leeds are believed to have had an offer from a Championship club for Huggins, while Blackburn Rovers are also interested in the Wales Under-21 international.

Huggins signed a new contract at Elland Road last season running until the simmer of 2023, but he now seems set to depart this summer.
