Sunderland 'finalising' move for Tottenham's Dennis Cirkin

Sunderland are close to finalising a move for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dennis Cirkin, according to reports.

Alan Nixon, of The Sun, claims that the Black Cats should have "finalised" a move for the 19-year-old full-back today, Wednesday, August 11.

The Wearsiders are hoping to fill the void at left-back which has been left by Denver Hume.

The Sunderland academy graduate is still yet to sign a new deal with the club and head coach Lee Johnson set a deadline of last Saturday for negotiations with Hume.

Nixon has also revealed that the Black Cats pulled out of a deal with Liverpool for Tony Gallacher due to a disagreement over the sell-on clause.

Negotiations with Cirkin have been ongoing for a number of weeks, but Football Insider claims that the Black Cats have negotiated a four-year deal for the left-back who arrived on Wearside yesterday.

Speaking after last night's win over Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, Johnson gave an update on transfers at the club.

He said: "We're still looking for ins, and there's not a massive thought process on the outs.

"I've missed today really because I have been preparing for the game but there is always work going on in the background so I'm ever hopeful."
