Sunderland fans won't like David Prutton's Bolton prediction this week

Sunderland will come back from their trip to Bolton with just one point to show for their efforts - according to Sky Sports pundit David Prutton.

The former Southampton and Nottingham Forest defender runs the rule over the key EFL games each week, and the Black Cats' visit to Bolton comes under his spotlight.

Struggling Bolton have had an incredibly difficult start to their season. The club spent the summer trying to find a buyer, or risk expulsion from the EFL. Their external circumstances mean that while they found a buyer, they also started the season with 12 points docked.

But despite the Trotters' difficult start to the campaign - including a 6-1 defeat to Rotherham last weekend - Prutton is forecasting a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

New manager Keith Hill at least saw his side battle to a goalless draw against Oxford on Tuesday night, at the same time Jack Ross' outfit were drawing 1-1 at home to Rotherham.

"A 6-1 drubbing at Rotherham wasn't the ideal way for Keith Hill to get going in League One at Bolton, but they recovered well to earn a second point of the season against Oxford in midweek," Prutton wrote in his weekly predictions.

"Sunderland endured a familiar 1-1 draw against the Millers on Tuesday night. Although this time they threw away a lead rather than recovered a point. I fancy another 1-1 here. Prutton predicts: 1-1"
